In today's post I am going to talk about a topic that many people find it hard. What else can it be rather than the colour scheme and palette that you are going to use in your house/ apartment/ condo etc.

Why is it this hard people ?

Hmm... Let me guess...

Maybe, because you do not know if it is going to match with all of your furniture and your design.

Maybe, because you are not sure which colours are trending this year so you can be updated.

Or, maybe because you do not know if the room that you want to paint is going to look bigger or smaller by using a particular colour.

This post will answer all of your questions (...At least the most of them...) and I will introduce the

No. 1 Get Inspired

  • Start with mind mapping on a piece of paper

Ask your self questions like: What do I see and grabs my attention? Where do I enjoy going on my free time? Who do I like bringing with me?

For example: A thing that grabs my attention are nice pictures of the ocean and generally the nature... I enjoy going to the park or at the beach/lake.... With my friends

  • Find pictures online (ex. pinterest) that matches your mind mapping

Take from the particular picture the colours that stand out more for you. Right after that find an inspirational picture that matches with those colours.

You will see, that your life into the interior will be more pleasant because the colours are a piece of you and your experiences from things that makes you happy.

Because

"house" becomes

"home"

only when you personalise

it.

No. 2 Small Space Colour Palette

If you have a small space I highly recommend to follow up with more neutral colour palette on the walls and floors because they have the tendency to create the illusion of a bigger interior.

By choosing brighter paint for the walls, this automatically gives you the freedom to play with the furniture to make the impact that you want to achieve.

Colours from Benjamin Moore such as :

  • Shaker Beige

  • Pashmina

  • Pink Damask

  • Heaven

Colour Scheme
Neutral Living room

Neutral colours have the tendency to create very relaxing, inviting and welcoming interiors.

No. 3 Big Space Colour Palette

In this category we have the lucky one, who have an enormously huge interiors and they do not know how to take advantage of this. Big spaces can go crazy with the colour scheme that they are going to use.

Dark colours are the best option for you (especially if you leave in Canada) to create a cosier and warmer environment. The tricky part of this category is that people do not know how to match the colours so they can have the result that they imagine.

Colours from Benjamin Moore such as:

  • Shadow (colour of the year)

  • Hale Navy

  • Black Forest Green

  • Classic Burgundy

Darker colours have the tendency to illustrate a dramatic, mysterious bit at the same time luxurious and classy interior.

No. 4 Style

If your home has a particular style then you have follow up with particular colour palette so your design can be shown and recognised. Because every interior style introduces different elements and principals of design in order to achieve a smooth result.

In this category I will introduce some interior styles that follow a specific colour scheme.

SHABBY CHIC

is a style that uses very light, neutral and clear colour, most commonly used products are chalk paints.

BOHEMIAN

is a very unique style, because it combines many patterns and colours; however, in a boho house is easy to decide wall paints by the time that it uses very simple and light colours.

SCANDINAVIAN

style is based on grey tones on the walls, most of the times light warm grey hues on the walls and you play with the colours with the furniture.

I hope that you found this post interesting and helpful... I am going to be waiting for your comments and please feel free to email me and ask me any question.
